FAQ

Q:What happens to my scans after my form has been delivered? Do you keep a copy?

A: A copy is kept for 6 months incase you need another form or a piece replaced. After that the digital files will be securely destroyed. A copy of the printable files will be provided to you, should you want to archive or have another form printed.

Q: How will I be scanned?

A: The preferred method is to have you stand on a rotating platform 4 inches off the ground that rotates slowly, allowing the camera to remain stationary while the scan is produced. We understand that balance is a challenge for some, and it may not feel safe to be rotated. If that’s the case, we will move the camera instead, but it’s more challenging to get a complete scan and it may require multiple attempts to complete one “good” scan.

Q: How physically taxing is this process?

A: For a complete scan to be made, it is important that your arms be lifted away from the body enough for the camera to capture your torso in all detail. This can mean keeping your arms extended and slightly raised for a couple minutes. You must be able to stand, unsupported for the duration of the scan. Once the scan process is complete, you will be free to move while the scan is rendered and evaluated. If you have mobility/stability issues, please contact us and we will do our best to work with you to produce a useful scan.

Q: How useful is the form for draping? Can I pin into it?

A: The dress forms we produce are made from a hard plastic and cannot be pinned directly into. If you’ve ever pined on a commercial/professional form, this functions the same way. The plastic will be covered with a layer of batting and fabric that can be pinned into horizontally.

Q: How much of this process am I required to do?

A: We take care of the scanning, 3-D printing and assembly and mounting the dress form on a pipe and wood stand. We will go over the finishing process of applying the batting and cover, but covering the form is not part of the service.

Q:How long does the process take?

A: The scanning process takes roughly 30 minutes per person. Once the scan is complete, our technicians ready the file for printing, Then the file is sent to the printer. If you are scanned through a class with us, you will generally pick up you form 2 weeks later. If you have a private appointment we can discuss a faster delivery date with you. Please note, printing averages 14 hours per body section, so rush orders are not accepted.

Q: What other products do you offer?

A: We have been experimenting with other body forms, such as pants/leg forms, forms wearing specialized undergarments such as corsets and full body scans. We have also been producing cosplay armor and dragon scales. Do you have a project you think we could help with? Please contact us and tell us all about it!

Q:How much does it cost?

A: Prices range from $250 – $500 depending on the nature of the scan and the location of the scanning session. Please contact us for an estimate.
